Free international Calls at Mobivox

Saturday 10 November 2007 @ 11:24 pm

More free calls offers and some great cheap voip service available in the market up for grab. It’s time for consumers to get the best deal. We posted about Skype cheaper calls and now another provider offering free international calls on July 4 (US Independence day Special promotion).

It’s kinda late for me to post this but still about 12 hrs left for USA to celebrate Independence Day. Whats so special about July 4? Well Mobivox is offering free international calls from USA to anywhere in the world on mobile or fixed lines anytime from midnight EDT to 11:59:59 pm EDT July 4 for a value up to 10$ US of MOBIVOX credit.

Since we never discussed Mobivox on VOIP Guide earlier, its a good time to explain how it works.

Mobivox doesn’t require you to download any softphone or even tiny application to use their services. This frees you from the compatibility issues, perhaps the greatest advantage over other voip providers.

One way is to access MOBIVOX through a local access number provided to you free by MOBIVOX. When you call your local number, MOBIVOX recognizes your phone number, Voxgirl (automated) helps you to make calls.

Free domain name at Register.com

Saturday 3 November 2007 @ 11:15 pm

Get a free domain name at Register.com. This is a great freebie for anyone with a blog or a website, or anyone interested in starting one. I just used this freebie myself to get BuyAnAmp.com. I’m thinking about making a site that sells guitar camps. To get this great freebie domain name just click here. This is a $35 value! (You will need a credit card or Paypal account for this. But you will NOT be charged. This is just standard process for getting a domain name with Register.com. They are a very reputable company and they won’t charge you)

WP Colors

Friday 27 July 2007 @ 1:46 pm

This is a snazzy looking 2 column theme for Wordpress plus it’s Adsense ready and is widget compatible. This Wordpress theme is also SEO optimized and ready to rock once you’ve added your Adsense Publishers ID.

One of my main gripes of other “Adsense Ready” themes is that the sidebar info comes before the main content info in the source code. This is not the case with WP Colors. They’ve coded this theme so that the main content info is read by a Search engine BEFORE the sidebar info!

There is a 728×90 block at the top of the theme below the header image and a 120×600 tower in the sidebar plus a 300×250 box at the top of the sidebar.

Personally, I’d like to see that banner be a 468×60 at the top of the post and a adlink at the top, but hey, with a Wordpress Theme that looks this good and is easy to use, you can’t complain about much!

Merah Putih

Friday 27 July 2007 @ 1:08 pm

This is a nice clean and simple Wordpress Theme I found. It needs some customizing, such as a logo in the upper left corner if you want one and you have to insert your Adsense publisher ID into the sidebar.php, header.php file and single.php file which is pretty easy to do. All you do is open the PHP files with an editor like Notepad ++ and replace the existing Adsense Publisher ID’s with you own, save the files and upload them to your template folder or modify them in the Theme Editor of the Dashboard and BAM, you’re off and running.  It takes me about the same amount of time to do it as it did to type this.

I’m a sucker for clean and simple Wordpress themes such as this one. I like the ad placements and an added bonus is that once a surfer clicks on an article heading, the article page has the 300×250 Adsense block in the upper left of the article. That’s the sweet spot and heat maps provided by Google states this is the best place to put an adblock in an article.

The side bar has a 300×250 and a 160×600 ad block plus an adlink block at the top of the pages.

A SiteSearch to behold

Wednesday 18 July 2007 @ 5:33 am

If you’re familiar with AdSense for search, then you’re probably aware of the SiteSearch feature, with which users can search through the pages of your site. When you generate AdSense for search code with SiteSearch enabled, the search box will currently default to selecting the websearch radio button. However, a number of publishers have asked if it’s possible to have their search boxes default to SiteSearch instead.

It’s a little-known fact, but we’re happy to tell you that it is possible to select this option within your account. First, visit the ‘AdSense Setup’ tab and select ‘AdSense for search’ as your product. On the code generation page, you’ll see a sample search box under ‘Search box style’ that changes as you customize the layout:

New Google Referral 2.0

Wednesday 18 July 2007 @ 5:10 am

Google adsense has launch Referral 2.0. This one is a good oportunities for us. Referral 2.0 has highlighted a few of the key benefits :

  • Expanded product inventory: While many of you have had success referring one of Google products, some of you weren’t able to find a product that fit the context of your site. Referrals 2.0 offers products from thousands of AdWords advertisers, so you can find the right ads for your sites.
  • Category and keyword targeting: With thousands of products available, it can be difficult to decide which ads will perform best on your site. That’s why Google give you the option to refer products by category and keyword. You can narrow down the types of ads you want to display and let AdSense figure out which ones will perform best on your site. Whether you want ads for a specific category, advertiser, or product, referrals 2.0 will give you the control to decide.
  • Ad unit optimization: It can be tricky picking the best ads for your site, so Google included ad unit optimization for referrals. When you create a new referral ad unit, simply select the Pick best performing ads option. We’ll then compare your selected ads to other relevant ads, and serve the ads to perform best on your site.

Google Adsense Page Positioning

Wednesday 18 July 2007 @ 5:01 am

Correct positioning of your Google adsense ads can make or break your success with the Google adsense program. Why is this true? Some studies suggest that eye positioning on website gravitate to particular sections of web pages. And if you don’t have the necessary ads in these positions you will not get the clicks.

I talked to countless people that have great traffic, some with 300 to 1000 new visitors a day that say that they only make approx. at max $10 to $20 dollars a month on the adsense program. What a shame. But when I look at their websites the ads are either buried in wording that no one usually pays attention to or the ads are located in positions that just don’t call any attention to their presence.
